Santiago Cárdenas

Santiago Cárdenas (Bogotá, Colombia, 1937) studied art at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) BFA 1960, United States, and obtained an MFA degree from Yale University in 1964. In 1983 he was appointed "Distinguished Visiting Professor" of the Miami Dade Community College and in 1987 he directed an experimental art workshop at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. He was Titular Professor and Emeritus of Art and Director of the School of Fine Arts of the National University of Colombia from 1972 to 1974. He participated in the Taller Experimental Cuerpos Pintados in Santiago, Chile in 1994 and 1996.

His artworks are present in various public collections, such as The Museum of Modern Art in New York, Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design; Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango del Banco de La República, Bogotá; Museum of Fine Arts of Caracas; Museum of Contemporary Art Sofía Imber, Caracas; Museum of Modern Art of Bogotá; Rufino Tamayo Museum, Mexico; BP Collection; Antwerp; Prints Museum of Norway; Museum of Monterrey, Mexico and Museum of Art of the National University of Bogotá, among many others.
