Alirio Oramas
Artist. Son of the archaeologist Luis Ramón Oramas, who was director of the botanical garden park El Calvario, and White Prince. He became interested in painting since early and made drawings of petroglyphs and pottery to illustrate the publication of his father. In 1944 the culmination of the school at the Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola and between 1945-1946 worked as an elementary teacher in Salias Vicente School in Los Teques, while attending specialized courses in Venezuela Experimental School. Meet the Uruguayan sculptor Germain Cabrera, who motivated him to enroll in the School of Fine and Applied Arts (1946), where he was a pupil of Juan Vicente Rafael Fabbiani and Monasteries in drawing and engraving Pedro Angel Gonzalez. He collaborated in the magazine light, and made linocuts and drawings. Teaching continues until it receives a scholarship that allows you to focus on painting in his studio. The group is part of Maripérez Barraca, so that, together with other students, was expelled from the School, in 1948 founded the Free Art Workshop, which runs until 1951. In 1950 Workshop and the journal published in May of that year, signing appears the third issue of dissidents. During this period his paintings is an expressionist tendency, characteristic of the series of chairs, Mandingo, Ports and parrots. Assists his father in archaeological projects and visit several times in Macuto Armando Reveron. In 1951 he received the National Prize of Plastic Arts at the XXII Annual Art Exhibition Venezuelan Officer for his work parrots (also known as Comet and Parrot, FGAN)
